Medicare for All Act
This bill would establish a national health insurance program for all U.S. residents, covering hospital, outpatient, preventive, prescription drug, dental, vision, mental health, substance use, and long-term care. It eliminates deductibles and copayments, except for limited, capped prescription drug cost-sharing with exemptions for low-income individuals. Enrollment would be automatic and phased in, expanding from children to all residents over four years. Once fully implemented, duplicative private insurance would be prohibited, though supplemental coverage is allowed. The bill also sets provider standards, centralizes health budgets and payments, preserves Medicaid long-term care, and requires nationwide data reporting for oversight.
