Electronic Monitoring Devices in Long-term Care Facilities

Florida's HB 223 bill allows nursing and assisted living residents to use electronic monitoring devices in their rooms with consent from their roommates. Facilities cannot retaliate against residents who choose to install these devices. The bill mandates a consent form and penalizes obstruction or unauthorized access to recordings. The Agency for Health Care Administration may establish rules, and the law becomes effective July 1, 2025.
