Protect College Sports Act of 2026

This bill establishes federal standards for Division I college athletics. It mandates medical coverage and catastrophic injury insurance for student athletes, protects their academic and scholarship rights, and guarantees compensation and legal representation for name, image, and likeness (NIL) activities. It requires educational resources for athletes, preserves key football rivalries, and sets clear rules for membership and voting in athletic associations. It is neutral on student athlete employment status and does not override existing antitrust, copyright, or civil rights laws, while providing a process for civil enforcement with an opportunity to cure violations.
